Once known as the City of Steel, Pittsburgh thrived as a major producer of metal and coal. Mills were plenty and generations worked together side-by-side in the heat and soot. Likewise, the city was covered in its own layer of soot. The residents prospered and enjoyed all that came with living in a blue collar city.
