Type 1 diabetes is a disease caused by lack or decrease in the hormone that handles glucose and other related rocesses and fats.

Type I diabetes is also called Juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. The process in which the insulin-producing cells are destroyed may be insidious and long. When the insulin production has been bottomed out, type 1 diabetes appears suddenly while it progresses quickly. In children, the symptoms of diabetes include restlessness, apathetic and trouble functioning in school. Diabetic coma can occur in severe cases as a symptom of the type 1 diabetes.
Generally, the 5 basic symptoms of diabetes are extreme fatigue, extreme hunger, frequent urination, extreme thirst. These symptoms of diabetes are as a result of the organs not getting enough glucose that is needed for them to function properly. Thirst occurs due to the excessive urination. Every hour, tons of water is dumped. Due to the dehydration, one feels extremely thirsty. Frequent urination occurs as the body does all it can to remove the excess glucose through the bladder. It is one of the major symptoms of type 1.diabetes and the body is not able to release all the excess glucose into the blood stream.
Energy is lost through urine and the body has no energy to utilize. As a result, muscle tissue and are broken down in search for energy. Extreme weakness and fatigue sets in. with the excess urination, the body loses water causing thirst and the body loses weight because it has no source of energy and is now using the muscle tissue. The hunger sensations also result from the malnourished cells. Eventually the body becomes malnourished and is not acquiring the energy that it needs from glucose.
Other symptoms common with type 1may be evident when the blood sugar is high or when one becomes very sick. Such symptoms of diabetes include dry mouth and skin, deep rapid breath, fruity breath odor, flushed face, stomach pain and nausea. With this type, the symptoms of diabetes may be confused for stomach virus because it comes with vomiting more so in children.
When diabetics start taking insulin, they can quickly develop low blood sugar and if it goes below 70mg/dl, symptoms that appear include headache, shaking, sweating, weakness, hunger, rapid heartbeat and nervousness. DKA or diabetic ketoacidosis is life threatening and when you are aware of the symptoms, it can be prevented.
Before they are diagnosed, some people will show no signs of diabetes. However, it is crucial for you to make yourself informed about the symptoms of diabetes, type 1. Be proactive about the health of your family members and you as well. If any of these symptoms of diabetes type 1 is observed even in children, have a doctor confirm the diagnosis by having the glucose levels checked.
During physical examinations, diabetes is not among the issues pediatrics look for. All the same, the symptoms of diabetes, type 1 are a common disorder within the US and about 10000cases are diagnosed every year. Type 1diabetes occurs mostly in children and teenagers but in some cases, adults in late 30s to early 40s may be affected.
