Indian Rummy is a traditional card game played globally by card lovers. It is estimated that 100 million people play Rummy offline in India. It is a popular pass-time game and now it is played online as well. It is mostly played from the convenience of home by the people of all classes and all ages above 18. Online rummy provides the convenience of playing rummy anytime anywhere. People can play with real players pan-India and win real cash by playing with skills and as per the rummy rules. This game has set a new benchmark in online entertainment, thus many sites have arrived with different versions of 13 cards rummy games of which Points Rummy is the most popular version.
In Points Rummy players play for points that have a pre-decided rupee-value. This game is played on live tables with 2 to 6 players on every table. As the points earned are equivalent to money in this game, it is termed as Points Rummy.
The objective of this points rummy is to arrange all the 13 cards in sets. The game starts with a toss and the toss will decide the player who has to make the first move. Every player is dealt with a set of 13 cards each. First card from the pack will be placed in the open deck which indicates that the game has started. Remaining cards will be placed face-down in the closed deck slot. At the beginning of each game, one card is picked randomly from the closed deck which acts as a joker for that particular game. Each player takes turns to pick/discard a card from closed/open deck to complete the sets and/or sequences. Once the sets and/or sequences are completed, the player declares by melding them in sets/sequences and clicks on 'Show' button. The one who melds perfectly will be scored zero and the remaining player's score is computed by adding points for cards that are not grouped as sets/sequences.
The points are calculated as per the actual value of cards. J, Q, K, A of any suit carry 10 points each and all the numbered cards carry the same points as their face value. If the losing player has no sequence, all the cards are counted up to the maximum points of 80. The winner of the game will win all the cash at the end of each game and the winnings are given as the sum of points of all opponents multiplied with a rupee-value of the point which in total subtracted by the rake on total winnings amount.
