Evelyn Ng was an unknown poker player until she was invited to the 2005 World Poker Tour Ladies Night competition. Eveybabee finished 2nd in the event, though she was a major underdog as an unknown in a field with such women's stars as Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman and Kathy Leibert.
Since that time, Evelyn Ng has appeared at more and more poker tournaments, though her only notable money finish was a 2007 $25,000 poker tournament at the Bellagio. The career Evelyn Ng poker winnings are over $300,000 for tournament poker. Evelyn Ng continues to play in cash games, which is where Ng played for 10 years before first entering a tournament on the poker circuit.
Evelyn Ng started her gambling career in the pool halls of Toronto. Evelyn hustled "private school kids" for their lunch money, according to one interview, from the time she was about 14 (1989). When she was 16 years old, Evelyn Ng met Daniel Negreanu, who was at the time also a young billiards player. The two became friends and had a relationship. Though the relationship has ended, Evelyn Ng and Daniel Negreanu remain good friends.
Joining Daniel Negreanu on the professional poker tournament was still a decade away, though. Evelyn Ng first experience in the poker world was as a poker dealer in Toronto. From this, she learned to maintain concentration at the poker table -- such as keeping track of the pot and making certain her opponents make the proper bet.
Evelyn Ng started playing poker when she was 18, as an outgrowth of her job as a dealer. She describes herself as playing Limit Texas Hold'Em in cash games exclusively. Evelyn Ng played in cash games for about the first ten years of her poker life, until the 2005 WPT Ladies Night event. Since then, Evelyn Ng has been turning up at more poker tournaments, though she has yet to match the success of her original appearance on the WPT.
Evelyn Ng describes her poker playing style as a "selectively aggressive". Evelyn Ng's aggressive raises helped her finish 2nd on the 2005 World Poker Tour Ladies Night, which was a boon to her poker career. Ng also claims to have lots of smooth poker chip tricks, which is supposedly a sign of a person who's been around a poker table a lot.
Evelyn Ng has made several television appearances related to poker. Evybabee was on an episode of Criss Angel Mindfreak. Criss Angel tried to use his mindfreak abilities to persuade Evelyn to pick a losing hand. Criss Angel won three hands out of three, proving that (once again) the hand is quicker than the eye.
Evelyn Ng also appeared on the SpikeTV series, King of Vegas, where players play in four different casino games, including Texas Hold'Em and Blackjack. Evelyn also appeared as a poker croupier on Casino Casino, a U.K. game show.
Evelyn Ng is a member of Team Bodog, along with her friend David Williams. She has also appeared as one of the featured players on the video game, Stacked with Daniel Negreanu.
