Degrassi is long overdue on the screen, but the producers decided to offer the audience something to chew on until the new season will be available next year.

A cabin in the woods is the place where the action of this episode takes place. The location itself has its dark roots, as rumor has it that the previous landlord committed murder and suicide. As the story goes, the landlord found his spouse making love to another man, and he murdered the two lovers using a fire poker, afterwards killing himself. Jake is pretty much convinced that the place is swarmed by ghosts.

The interaction between the main characters does move on. Claire says that she is not longer in love with Jake, although it is obvious things are not that simple. On the other hand, Alli breaks up with Dave because her boyfriend had sex with another girl during summer break. Although Dave insists on having Alli back, things do not work between them. Jake decides to invite his friends to the infamous cabin in the woods.

Claire also decides to follow Jake and his friends. Unfortunately, she arrives just in time to witness a kiss between Jake and Alli, who were comforting each other over their broken love affairs. Claire runs away into the woods and injures her hand. Finding her bloody bandages in the woods, Drew and Jake become panicked, but Eli founds Claire and everyone returns to the cabin. While Claire and Jake make up, Alli is forced to leave the cabin and head back home.
While the episode was supposed to make the audience clutching at the end of their seats, it was really all about Claire and Jake making up. It is never explained how Eli gets to the cabin, and the fact that he is Claire’s ex makes thing even more complicated. Alli also proves, on the other hand, that she just loves getting into unpleasant situations on her own.

Katie shows her jealousy of Bianca when she discovers her performing her community work in the basement belonging to Drew’s parents. Bianca leads her on, and she does not want to make her change her mind. She is also the one that accompanies Claire on the way to the cabin. Since Marisol is not crazy about walking into the woods, when everybody starts looking for Claire, she starts relaxing on the couch with a joint. Alli warns them she does not want to smell of marijuana, so Marisol and Katie lock themselves up in the shed. Katie eventually frees herself and her friend using a chainsaw. Drew finds them, and even if Katie does not smoke pot, she feels he is not approving of her doing such things.

Katie seems to be growing up during this episode, while Marisol remains the same airhead. Bianca, on the other hand, shows that she really knows about horror, and she does not dwell on thoughts of seducing Drew, although it clearly amuses her to tease Katie on the subject. Despite her jealousy, Katie learns that she must have more trust in Drew.

The episodes end up with a scene involving a chainsaw and some pretty scary shadows. However, there is no ghost involved in the process, but only Helen and Glen that come to see how the children are doing.
