Dubai is Bollywood favorite destination for both work and play. Within no time it has overtook European and US cities as a preferred destination for shootings. From Bollywood stars like Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar to the average holidaymaker, the magical land of Dubai calls everyone in its wraps.
Separated apart from India by the Arabian Sea, Dubai is home to a sizeable Asian population, many of which are hard-core Bollywood movie fans. Blue and white collared migrants who have made Dubai their permanent residence long for their traditional roots that the Indian entertainment stars fulfill during their stage shows and festival events.

Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachhan, Aishwarya Rai are household names in Dubai, not only for Indians but also for the local Arabs. Every time a movie releases in a Dubai theatre, you get to see long queues of youngsters trying to get their hands on the first day tickets of their favorite actor's movie.

Even distribution companies are surprised by the response they receive from local Dubaities. Recently many production companies from Bollywood like Yash Raj have signed multi million dollar contracts with Dubai investment companies to build entertainment districts in the city.

As it is very close to home and offers many tax-free entertainment opportunities, Dubai is a favorite holiday destination among Indians, not to forget Indian film industry stars. With continuous back-to-back shootings in the emirate, the city has become a second home for many stars that have learnt to love the city even more every time they return. There was a time when European locations were very favored as shooting locations. However, due to the traveling distance and rising costs, Dubai is the new favorite.

Another attraction one will notice in Dubai is the plethora of Indian restaurants and cafes either owned by Bollywood stars or named after the industry. Asha Bhosle has opened her third restaurant in Dubai - Asha's which is a good example of her popularity.

Musical events equally fascinate the local crowd in Dubai. When Sunidhi Chauhan or Sonu Nigam croons the latest Hindi music tracks, they loudly cheer to applaud the singers. Live concerts like these are an unforgettable event for the singers as well crowds.

However, Dubai also shares a negative connection with Bollywood. Termed as the hub for the underworld activities, Dubai's reputation is at stake since many Bollywood names are unofficially involved in the blame game. The Dubai property scam is one such instance which still lingers in everybody's minds. Since Indian and Dubai police have taken up the clean up drive, fingers are crossed that it will foster positive results

If the negative aspect of Dubai is overlooked, then the city proposes some fascinating opportunities for the movie business. It is less expensive to shoot in Dubai compared to other international markets and musical stage shows gather a lot of revenue of Bollywood biggies. Going by the trade terminology and audience viewership, Dubai is synonymous with the Middle East market. The trade collections in Dubai are no less than in US or European city.

As Dubai's love affair with Bollywood continues, be a part of the fun and frolic by catching the next flight to Dubai. Also, do not forget to ask at the hotel front desk about the nearest Bollywood shooting. Who knows, your favorite Bollywood star may be waiting for a click and an autograph?
