BMW introduced the 7 Series in 1977 as a full size luxury saloon, available in either standard or long wheel base format. The 7 Series is BMW’s flagship car and usually consists of the latest and innovative technology, which later trickle down to the smaller models. The latest iteration of the 7 Series was released in 2009 and available as part of the fleet at most car hire in Scotland companies.

The new 7 Series comes with a choice of 4 engine configurations, including one diesel. The diesel unit is a 3.0 litre with 242bhp. The petrol engines consist of the 3.0 litre straight six, the 4.4 litre V8 and the 6.0 litre V12 with 322, 402 and 537 BHP respectively. Transmission choices are either a 6 or 8 speed automatic.

As well as being a great drive the 7 Series is a great limo. All models let you adjust the firmness of the suspension at the flick of a switch. Long-wheelbase models have air-sprung rear suspension, which makes the handling a little worse but the comfort a little better.

Over time high performance versions of the 7 Series have been produced by the likes of Alpina and AC Schnitzer. There is a smaller company called Mansory based in Swiotzerland who have staretd to produce modifications for the luxury 7 Series.

Mansory have created a body kit of the 7 Series that consists of component for the front bumper that perfectly blend in with the LED daytime running lights and the new carbon radiator grill and turn the Mansory 7 series front into a dynamic eye-catcher. Most audible is the Mansory sports exhaust system, which renders an impressive growling sound.
